NBN Co Limited has been established to design, build and operate the wholesale-only national broadband network for Australia providing a new, super fast broadband network across the nation. NBN Co will provide the infrastructure that will allow wholesale and retail service providers to deliver advanced broadband services to homes, schools and businesses with speeds of up to 100 megabits/second.
About the Role
The Principal Advisor HSE role reports into the Network Operations HSE Manager. Whilst State based, this highly important role will be part of a national team of specialist HSE practitioners who will work with Network Operations, its contractors and vendors to establish and maintain the HSE programmes which will underpin daily operations. This team will have broad ranging responsibilities for supporting the Network Operations business units and contractors in their compliance to the corporate HSE policies, using training, mentoring and audits as supporting tools. In doing so, the team members will work closely with both corporate and operational functions responsible for overall enterprise strategies.
Responsibilities include:
Contributing to the development of the Operations HSE Strategy and Management Plan and implementing areas of responsibility;
Contributing to the design of the HSE management system;
Contributing to the development of corporate HSE documentation;
Development and maintenance of an Operations hazard profile;
Development of Operations SWMS;
Contribute to the development of Work Instructions;
Providing technical advice to Operations business units on HSE implementation and compliance requirements;
Maintenance of HSE database, including data entry;
Establishing and delivering training programmes which underpin HSE awareness and compliance for staff and contractors;
Assisting business units and contractors in establishing local HSE Management Plans and local training programmes;
Investigating HSE incidents involving Operations staff and contractors;
Undertaking compliance checks / audits on Operations business units and contractors;
Liaising with Government authorities when required;
Maintaining HSE material on the corporate website relevant to operational functions;
Providing visible leadership of HSE functions for Network Operations;
Weekly, monthly reporting and ad hoc reporting on HSE matters; and
Assisting with the management of lost time injury cases and the return to work of injured staff
What We Are looking For
To be successful for this position, you will currently occupy a Lead HSE role, preferably in a telecommunications, construction or utility business. We preferably seek candidates with a wealth of experience and deep level understanding in self insurance and/or high reliability environments. An individual with heightened awareness of the key linkages, policies, procedures and strategic influence HSE plays within a large corporate organization. You will be tertiary qualified in a related discipline with preference give to candidates with HSE qualifications or safety undergraduate studies. Candidates with the following industry certifications will be considered frontrunners.
RABQSA Auditor Accreditation;
RTW Coordination;
Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training;
Work Cover Consultation trainer;
