Training for case managers in psychosocial matched care

Implementing psychosocial matched care requires structured training to ensure case managers can confidently apply screening, triage, and referral processes in real-world claims management. Without adequate training, inconsistent application, inconsistent decision-making and communication challenges undermine the effectiveness of early psychosocial screening.

Case managers involved in psychosocial screening need to understand why it is in their interest to implement this approach. They need to understand the key elements of their role in the approach and how to maximise their effectiveness.  Key elements of training include:

Foundational training to understand the biopsychosocial model, psychosocial risk factors, and early intervention principles.

Practical application through supervised screening, real-case discussions, and competency assessments.

Ongoing skill development via quarterly refresher training, coaching, and case reviews.
