Order picking role at a stationery supplier
The order picker's job involves:
• | Picking orders from shelves (Approximately 700 items are picked per hour) |
• | The shelves are from ground level to approximately shoulder height |
• | Goods weigh from a few hundred grams to 3kg |
Items picked are variable:
• | They range from light and small items such as a bag of rubber bands, to heavier items such as a ream of paper |
• | Some items, such as reams of paper, can be awkward to remove from the boxes they are stored in, however most of the other items are lighter and less difficult to maneuver |
• | Bulk items are not handled in this area |
• | The collected items are placed in the boxes on the conveyer system, and then the process repeated |
• | Items are packed into cardboard boxes that are moved along a hip height conveyor system |
Out of the ordinary situations that can occur:
• | The busy picking period is February and March coinciding with the start of the school year. During this period, Ms X's normal duties will be rotated with an admin role to ensure Ms X is not overloaded. |
Concerns about the transitional job and the process for review
Communication: Ms X's return to work will go smoothly if there is a cooperative relationship between Ms X and her supervisor, Ms Y. A weekly meeting has been organised between Ms X and her supervisor to encourage this interaction. If Ms X has any concerns about her duties then they should be brought up in these meetings or alternatively, contact should be made with the HR officer, Ms Z on 9867 XXXX.
It is important that Ms X voices any concerns about duties performed or requests to perform duties by other staff.
