Participation in rehabilitation was measured by some rehabilitation expenditure being recorded as part of the claim cost.
Queensland workers have historically been much more likely than the national average to participate in rehabilitation. Rehabilitation use increased to 78% in 2011-12, from 72% in 2010-11. The national participation rate gained a little ground, edging to 45% after a decline in 2010-11.
(In Queensland referral to rehabilitation is often for a specific service rather than for general management of return to work).
