Implenting policy

Implementing policy isn't always easy, but 3 key steps help put injury management plans into action:

Get senior management support for the policy. Implementing a work disability policy is significantly more successful if senior management support is evident.

Make the policy available. Distribute the policy through various channels such as posters, the internet or internal website, toolbox meetings, staff training, newsletters, induction manuals and annual reports.

Visibly apply the policy. The policy needs to be applied and be seen to be applied. Outline consequences for situations where the policy is not followed, including for managers who breach the policy.

By developing comprehensive policies and procedures that address psychosocial factors and implementing them effectively, organisations can create a strong foundation for successful injury management and RTW programs.
