Research short: How long will chronic low back pain last?

A Dutch study has produced a simple, efficient means for assessing the probable duration of low back pain.

Episodes of low back pain can sometimes settle quickly, and other times settle slowly. Other studies have indicated that for 25% of people with an episode of back pain, it will take between one and two years for their symptoms to resolve.
