Use of IMCs was the healthcare support option implemented in the WISE study. While formal use of IMCs is localised to NSW, specialist consultations with the treating GP can be arranged in other jurisdictions. Healthcare support has two main objectives:

•Ensure the treating GP is engaged in discussions about safe RTW and appropriate duties

•Discuss and agree on evidence based healthcare support.

Information from the specialist’s IMC assessment is communicated to the treating doctor, case manager, RTW Coordinator and biopsychosocial counsellor to maximise coordination of care.
