Detailed information about income sources at the time of interview provides further information about the durability of return to work. If an injured employee is receiving income from other sources their return to work is more likely to be on reduced hours.
Analysis of total sources of income provides a measure of:
− Full RTW (income from employment only);
− Partial RTW (income from employment plus any other income source);
The proportion of injured South Australian workers citing employment as their main source of income was 60%, a drop of 6% from 2010-11 (compared to the national figure of 73%). There has been a corresponding increase in the percentage of people citing workers' compensation payments as their main source of income.
Both SA figures are significantly worse than the previous year.
