The following case studies are provided to illustrate implementation of early systematic psychosocial matched care in various organisational contexts. These examples are not intended to prescribe a single "best" approach, but rather to demonstrate the flexibility and adaptability of the core principles outlined in this guide. Each case study highlights how different organisations have tailored the psychosocial matched care system to suit their unique needs, structures, and resources.
Key to implementation of ALL approaches is that staff are trained, understand their role and follow the organisation’s protocol.
Levels of evidence
The case studies in this section represent a spectrum of implementation approaches for psychosocial matched care. They include both:
1.Research-based implementation that have been evaluated through controlled studies with peer-reviewed results (e.g., WISE Protocol, EMCAP study)
2.Practice-based implementation that demonstrate how organisations have applied these principles in real-world settings, with outcomes reported through internal evaluations and organisational data
Readers should note the different levels of evidence supporting each approach. Research-based implementations provide stronger evidence for effectiveness, while practice-based are lower quality evidence but offer valuable insights into practical implementation challenges and solutions.
Each case study follows a consistent format to facilitate comparison,
When considering which approaches might work best in your context, we recommend prioritising elements supported by the strongest evidence while drawing implementation inspiration from the full range of case studies.
