If after triage the psychosocial assessment has been undertaken in the insurer’s operating environment, the assessing practitioner will review the results and either refer the individual to the appropriate external provider for a care plan and intervention or to an in-house rehabilitation service.
If the case was referred to an external provider for assessment, that provider will most likely also develop the care plan and provide the biopsychosocial intervention, but it must be clearly linked to the initial biopsychosocial assessment findings described earlier.
