Setting up templates, expectations and standards

Standardise communication. Develop standardised templates for various types of communication — such as initial contact letters, progress update requests and return-to-work plans. These templates ensure consistency and save time for both your organisation and healthcare providers.

Establish clear expectations. Create a set of expectations for healthcare providers. This should include timeframes for responding to inquiries, preferred format and content of medical reports and guidelines for participation in case conferences or worksite visits.

Ask the healthcare provider what will work best for them. Long-term relationships need to work for both parties.
