Wellbeing following finalisation of a workers’ compensation claim: A systematic scoping review

The process of a worker's compensation claim can significantly affect an injured worker's wellbeing, with uncertain outcomes once the claim is finalised. This webinar, led by James Weir, a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and PhD candidate at Curtin University, delves into the aftermath of claim finalisation, uncovering the potential ongoing burden on individuals, employers, and society. Drawing from a comprehensive review of current literature, this session aims to shed light on the wellbeing outcomes of injured workers post-claim finalisation:

  • A workers’ compensation claim may have significant negative impacts on an injured worker’s wellbeing.
  • Wellbeing outcomes of injured workers following claim finalisation are uncertain.
  • This scoping review synthesises the current literature base on outcomes following claim finalisation.
  • There appears to be potential for ongoing burden for individuals, employers, and society after finalisation of a workers’ compensation claim.
