Migraines: Workplace costs

Migraines are a significant cause of presenteeism, according to research from Japan, with sufferers reporting feeling misunderstood and guilty at work.

Migraines are chronically recurring throbbing headaches, usually affecting just one side of the head. Migraines can last up to 72 hours, accompanied by other debilitating symptoms including disturbances to vision, nausea, vomiting, cognitive impairment, lethargy and sensitivity to light, sound and smells.
